Founders Lair in partnership with HICOOL presents the China Tech Series, where experts and leaders in the tech ecosystem will discuss the opportunities, challenges, and options that international startups have for entering the tech giant.
Yingzi Yuan has extensive experience in closely following the Chinese tech ecosystems. She recognizes that it is vital to, if not being there, at least knows what’s happening in China since the tech ecosystem is transforming very quickly. ByteDance took the world by storm with the first consumer viral app Tik Tok coming from China. However, it did not come without challenges. Let’s have an objective look with Yingzi at the challenges to the internationalization of China tech - from big techs to startups.
Landing a project in China is challenging for foreign entrepreneurs. Differences in language, culture and regulatory environment make the journey a bit hard for international startups and tech companies. However, Government policies and programs to attract innovation has expanded the opportunities and facilitate the process.

Yingzi is the Executive Director of the Europe China Foundation, which organized various projects and initiatives between China and Europe in terms of culture and innovation.
As a culture and entertainment industry specialist, Yingzi was previously a strategic advisor in entertainment holding group Vivendi (Universal Music, Gameloft...). Then she joined Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, this background led her to become one of the company's task forces with the mission to explore how new technologies could reshape the landscape of entertainment, analyzing their potential impact in various areas.
